      market sector information        case studies

Waterman Boreham is a market leader in specialist transport planning and related infrastructure design services bringing in-depth expertise to bear on the complex issues associated with mixed use developments.

our approach

We are appointed by clients at the earliest stages of all sizes and types of mixed use development because we recognise the need for an integrated approach to satisfy the different needs generated by each element of the scheme generating travel and traffic demands.

Working in partnership with our client and other members of the professional team, we develop access strategies, advise on complex site assembly issues and layout options to maximise development potential and value.

proactive and practical

At the planning application stage Waterman Boreham assess the interaction between the various elements of the proposal and determine how the traffic generation, parking and servicing demand will vary throughout the day to establish commercially efficient parking strategies.

We also assess how people will access the site by all modes, calculate the traffic associated with the development and how it can best be accommodated on the network to identify commercially viable and practical solutions for any required improvements.

Our experienced and knowledgeable staff also help promote the development to the public by providing support at public consultations and meetings, undertake robust negotiations with roads and planning authorities and provide expert witness services, if required, at public inquiries.

Once planning consent has been achieved, we provide detailed design consultancy services to deliver an end product that is safe, buildable and cost effective.

Due to our detailed knowledge of the day to day operation of a mixed use scheme, we also frequently advise on asset management of existing developments to maximise asset value by identifying improvements to access and servicing arrangements, car park management and undertaking.

‘As a single discipline company we find Boreham’s focussed approach to transportation engineering advice always positive and pro-active.

Unusually for transport engineers Boreham has personality; they are our first choice transportation consultant whether this is for a major mixed use development requiring a full transport assessment or for a complex multi-storey basement requiring the maximisation of car park spaces in order for a developer’s appraisal to stack up.’
