Waterman Boreham maintains inquiry success

Waterman Boreham’s success rate at appeal in 2010, is set to continue having recently represented four of its main clients at inquiry, informal hearings and written representations over contested planning applications for transport related issues.

The company’s most notable success this year has been for a 300 home development in the Green Belt in East Tilbury, Essex. With strong opposition from both the Council and local residents Waterman Boreham successfully addressed the transportation elements of the appeal which included Design Manual for Roads & Bridges (DMRB) versus Manual for Streets (MfS), level crossing safety, sustainability and convenience. The proposed scheme is considered to be one of the first to be released from Green Belt under the new Conservative led Government.

Andrew Yeardley, Development Director at Stratland Management Ltd, a Cordea Savills company, commented of the project team; ‘It is your specialist inputs and research that provided a sound basis of fact, reason and presentation necessary to enable our case to be argued with logic and conviction, and for which you deserve to take professional credit as a team for a job very well done. Thank you.’

Other recent client schemes represented have included Belway Homes’ proposed residential development in Cuckfield, where the Inspector agreed with the proposed access arrangements against strong local and third party professional representation. A similar success was also achieved for a local developer in Billericay with regard to a below guidance access arrangement which Waterman Boreham believed was appropriate for the use and agreed by the Inspector. At East Thames Housing’s, Crow Lane development in Havering, despite a PTAL 1 rating the Inspector agreed the parking could be reduced and sustainable contributions being sort were excessive.
