Re-development of Galway Shopping Centre wins planning approval
Lindat Limited has been given planning approval by An Bord Pleanala for the re-development of Galway Shopping Centre, Galway City. The re-development of the existing shopping centre will be undertaken on a phased basis, providing a mixed-use urban development in four blocks with additional retail/commercial and residential units along with a 1,500 space multi-storey car park above the shopping centre. The development also provides new leisure elements, a municipal art gallery and the provision of a new pedestrian street. The new development will be approximately 85,000sqm.
Waterman Boreham was responsible for negotiating innovative transport solutions to address the impact of access the proposed development on the surrounding area, successfully demonstrating that the revised development access arrangements could be incorporated into the local transport network with a number of proposed local improvements, including the implementation of a signal controlled crossroads in place of the existing signal controlled Bodkin Roundabout.
